Wallace Steve Edwards Sr., age 66 of Robbinsville, passed away, Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Memorial Mission in Asheville, NC. He was a native of Graham County and the son of Lillie M. Carringer Edwards and the late John Claude Edwards. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his son Wallace Steve “Stevie” Edwards Jr. in January of 2006. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army and a member of the Robbinsville Masonic Lodge #672. In addition to his mother he is survived by the mother of his children, Jean Crisp Edwards of Robbinsville; daughter and her fiancĂ© Ginger Fawcett and Danny Mitchell of Savannah, GA; brothers, Charles Edwards of Stecoah, Danny Edwards of Wilmington, NC, John Edwards Jr. of Pittsburg, PA; sisters, Barbara Greeson of Tunnel Hill, GA; and Jeanette Phillips of Robbinsville. He has 5 grandchildren, Jordan and Landon Fawcett, Scotland, Gracen, and Grant Mitchell. Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at the Townson-Smith Chapel where the Robbinsville Masonic Lodge #672 will perform the Masonic Last Rites. The Reverends Tony Hyatt and Shane Danner will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at the chapel prior to the services. Committal Services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday at the Old Mother Cemetery where Military Rites and a Flag Presentation will be performed by the Carringer Webster VFW Post 8635 and Eller Rogers American Legion Post 192. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Steve’s memory to the Lewis Rathbun Center in Asheville, NC. A donation account has been established at United Community Bank in Robbinsville for anyone wishing to donate. Townson-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Steve was also a a Noble(member)of the OASIS Shrine Temple.
